GaN chargers without the hype
What GaN changes for desk and travel chargers — and what to look for on the label.
Smaller, when the design holds up
Gallium nitride (GaN) parts let a charger be smaller than an older silicon design with the same output. Size on its own does not tell you much; what matters is the output on the label, how it is shared between ports, and whether it suits the devices you charge.
What to look for
- The wattage printed on the charger, and how it is split when more than one device is plugged in
- The charging standard your phone or laptop uses, such as USB Power Delivery
- A cable rated for the power you need
How we describe our chargers
We describe a charger by what is printed on it. If a figure is not on the label, you will not find it in our description.
